Early October 2016 NCR Windsor St Layout Status Update
I realized that, while I’ve been very busy on the layout, I haven’t posted many updates on it lately, so here’s a big cumulative update on where things sit at the beginning of October 2016.
TrainCrew – Operate More Than Your Throttle
I realized that computers and smart phones could help us create a more engaging model railroad operations experience after reading Lance Mindheim’s excellent book on modern shelf layout operations. The TrainCrew app that I’ve built does just that.
Adding a Crossover to CP LOUCKS
I’ve had a chance to run the layout through a number of scenarios, and I realized that I did actually need the crossover I had debated putting in coming out of CP LOUCKS at the north end of Windsor St Yard.
Visiting Adam Henry’s CSX Hanover Sub
My friend Adam has a great layout based on the CSX Hanover sub in progress. I got a chance to visit the other day. Here are a few pics.

Windsor St Layout Operations Documents
Now that I have things more or less running on the layout, I can start thinking about operations. These are a few documents I’ve created to help get things started, and to make it easy for visiting operators to understand what’s going on with their jobs and the layout. They also make nice souvenirs.
Trains now run around all of the Windsor Street Yard Layout
This day was a long time in coming, but thanks to the help of my friends, it happened. Trains now can run around the entire layout. I made a Youtube video to document the event.
N Scale Conrail GP9 7182
Conrail inherited a large number of early GPs from its predecessors. 7182 is a GP that is an ex-Penn Central unit that hasn’t been given its coat of blue yet.
