Over the past few months, I’ve spent a bunch of time looking for good reference photos of York PA in the 80s. While I was doing that, I found a big surprise…
It turns out that Strasburg’s 7002 paid York a visit on its way to Gettysburg for the 125th Anniversary of the Gettysburg Address.

This was quite exciting to me because, when I was a kid, I spent a lot of time from Strasburg, and the crossover here was quite the find.
There are some more great photos from the trip here: http://rrpicturearchives.net/archiveThumbs.aspx?id=87463, like these:
- Pausing in the Duke St yard, http://rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=3338032
- Passing York Blenders, http://rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=3338015

This wasn’t the only PRR steam visitor either. Famed PRR K4s 1361 paid York a visit too.
